Guatemala’s Universidad Francisco Marroquin
Retains Global Communicators for International Communications
and PR Counsel
WASHINGTON,
DC (May 1, 2007) – Universidad Francisco Marroquin (UFM), a
free-market university founded in Guatemala City in 1971, has
retained Global Communicators, LLC (GC), to provide advice and
counsel on the university’s communications campaign targeted
to classical liberals, Hispanics, and the general public as
well as opinion leaders in education, technology, academia,
public policy and entrepreneurship.
Described by the late Nobel Laureate Milton Friedman as “A first-rate
university that is having a significant effect on the climate
of opinion in Guatemala,” UFM teaches ethical, legal and economic
principles of a society of free and responsible persons, in
contrast to many of the leftist universities across Central
and South America.
Jim Harff, president and CEO of Global Communicators, LLC, said,
“We are especially pleased and honored to team with UFM because
of its firm commitment to teaching the principles of a free
society to the future leaders of Guatemala and Central America.”
Michiko Morales, GC senior vice president, is heading the agency’s
UFM account team.
Harff said the UFM assignment is consistent with GC’s mission
to provide its services to cause-related clients who seek to
preserve and expand freedom and liberty. In the 1990s, Harff
headed a Ruder Finn team that provided similar counsel to Croatia,
Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo as former Yugoslavia was crumbling
in the Balkans.
Harff Communications Incorporate, parent company of Global Communicators,
was founded in 1988. In 1989 it was acquired by Ruder Finn,
where Harff was president of the global public affairs division
in Washington. In 1997, Harff and two other senior executives
formed Global Communicators. In February of this year, Global
Communicators, LLC, was organized with two-thirds owned by Harff
Communications Incorporated and one-third by an equity partner.
The seven-person agency recently moved its offices to 901 15th
St., Suite 250, Washington, DC 20005.
