Global Communicators Names Ivan Butina European Business Development Analyst

WASHINGTON, DC (January 6, 2010)-In a move designed to strengthen its presence through new business development in Europe, Global Communicators, LLC, today named Ivan Butina, a graduate of Johns Hopkins' School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) who is a native of Sarajevo and an Italian citizen, to head its European business development practice.

Mr. Butina earned a master's degree from SAIS with a specialization in international economic and European studies. He joined Global Communicators as a project assistant in September 2009, and in November he directed Global Communicators' media relations team at the 10th Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates meeting in Berlin, chaired by former Soviet president and 1990 Nobel Peace Prize winner Mikhail Gorbachev. Prior to joining Global Communicators, he worked with the TransAtlantic Business Dialogue where he focused on EU-U.S. economic relations and the functioning of U.S. government and government-business relations.

Previously, Mr. Butina worked for the European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he developed a youth communications strategy to actively involve young people in their country's EU integration process. He is fluent in English, Italian and Bosnian/Croatian/Montenegrin/Serbian, and he speaks French and German.

Jim Harff, Global Communicators president and CEO, said, "Ivan Butina is a bright, energetic and entrepreneurial young European leader who already has made impressive inroads into private and public sector business opportunities for our company." Over the last two decades, executives of the firm have worked for European clients based in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Switzerland, Germany, and Denmark. While president of Ruder Finn's Global Public Affairs Division, Mr. Harff's team won the PRSA Silver Anvil for crisis communications counsel in Bosnia. Global Communicators' client work over the last 12 years has spanned Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Latin America and North America.
