Lee W. Huebner, Director of George Washington
University School of Media and Public Affairs, Joins Global
Communicators’ Board of Senior International Advisers
Former
Publisher and CEO of International Herald Tribune Brings Lifetime
of Media Experience to GC Board
WASHINGTON,
DC (March 3, 2009) – Dr. Lee W. Huebner, director of George
Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs and
former publisher and CEO of the International Herald Tribune,
has joined the Global Communicators, LLC (GC) board of Senior
International Advisers.
Jim Harff, president and CEO of GC, said Dr. Huebner brings
to the advisory position a lifetime of work in international
media positions. “Lee’s background in global journalism, political
and government affairs and academia provide us with an unprecedented
level of advice and counsel, for which we feel privileged
and grateful,” Harff said.
Before coming to George Washington University, Dr. Huebner
was Professor of Communication Studies and Journalism at Northwestern
University. He served for 14 years as president and CEO of
the Paris-based International Herald Tribune, the world’s
first global newspaper.
A native of Sheboygan, WI, Dr. Huebner was an undergraduate
student at Northwestern and received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees
in history from Harvard University. He was a co-founder and
president of the Ripon Society, a political research organization.
He worked as a Special Assistant to the President and Deputy
Director of the White House Writing and Research Staff during
the Nixon administration.
A former president of the American University of Paris and
of the American Chamber of Commerce in France, Dr. Huebner
serves as a member on newspaper boards in Hong Kong and Kenya
and chairs the Center for the Study of International Communication
in Paris. He is also Media Investment Advisor for The Aga
Khan Foundation for Economic Development.
Dr. Huebner joins eight other senior communications experts
on GC’s advisory board that helps guide the company’s corporate
strategy and development.
